We are located on a “canopy highway”. In the morning, the parrots move from their sleeping trees to the neighborhood where they feed all day. In the evening they come through again on their way home. The monkeys make their way down to the sea side from the dense jungle located behind the property. The howler monkey troops consist of up to 12 individuals. Often we see smaller groups as well, sometimes, there are small groups of only two males, or a male and a female. Once the troop reaches around 12, stress amongst the members increases and young males are driven off. These young males eventually attract females and start their own troop.
Thanks to Gary for the beautiful photos!
